Nokx Majozi

For Nokx Majozi, baking pies is an art. Five years ago, she found tranquility in crafting delicate pastry patterns under former executive chef Calum Franklin while developing The Pie Room at Holborn Dining Room, Rosewood London. This space has become renowned for its exquisite pies, with copper molds and detailed creations filling its menu.

In summer 2022, Nokx took over as head of The Pie Room, leading her team to create delights like the Winterdale cheese dauphinoise pie and thyme-studded beef Wellington. Pies hold sentimental value for Nokx, a popular snack from her native South Africa, with memories from her grandmother’s pies to those enjoyed after nights out.

Nokx’s culinary journey began with her father’s innovative cooking. After university, she worked in Durban, then moved to the U.S. and finally London in 2002, holding positions at The Intercontinental Park Lane, The Landmark, and Brown’s before joining Rosewood London in 2014. Despite challenges balancing work and family, Nokx found her place at Rosewood, thanks to Calum Franklin’s supportive team culture.

In 2018, Nokx discovered her passion for pie-making. Her intricate, artistic pies have gained her recognition, including a cover feature on The Observer Food Monthly. As The Pie Room turns five, Nokx plans to bring back pie masterclasses and blend African and British flavors, creating an exciting culinary journey.
